Hamilton Beach Hand Mixer

It has been a busy couple weeks so not much bargain hunting going on.
I may start a thrift shopping tip section for when the going gets slow.

Onto the find:)

I have a wonderful 1950's KitchenAid stand mixer that I absolutely adore.
However, sometimes it would be a little more convenient to have a hand mixer for quick and easy mixing jobs.
My husband actually saw it before I did but I picked it up first!  He couldn't tell what it was.
What I like about the mixer is that it has a cool wall stand that stores the beaters and cord out of sight.  The mixer also hangs on the little stand.
It is made by Hamilton Beach most likely in the '70s and was made in the USA!!!!
It is a 5 speed and works great.
Now all I have to do is hang it on the wall.
Purchase price - $4.00

Yarn!!!

Today was obviously yarn day at the local Goodwill.
As an avid crocheter, I'm always looking for cheap yarn.
I sell a lot of my items here.
The less I pay for the yarn, the more profit I stand to make.
Although mostly acrylic, I did find 3 cotton skeins which I love to work with.
Anyone who has ever bought a skein of yarn knows that a normal skein starts around $3.00 and goes up from there.
Purchase price (26 brand new skeins) - $24.70 (including tax)

Video games, paintings, and bird baths

Today I went to a local Goodwill and found something that will be sold on ebay.
Certain video games can command high prices on ebay if you know which ones they are.
Since my husband is an avid game collector, he has a great knowledge of what's rare and what's worth money.  Anything he already has and that is worth something goes on ebay.
Today he found Super Mario All-Stars for Super Nintendo.
It's a great game but he already has it so it will be sold.  I'll try to do an update after it's sold so that you can see what we made.
Purchase price - $2.00
Value - $15.00-$20.00

Next up is a plaque of Les Grandes Baigneuses (Bathers) by Paul Cezanne (1839-1906).
I love impressionist paintings and thought that this would be good for the bathroom
Also interesting to me was that the back tells what the painting is, where the painting is located (The National Gallery, London), who painted it, when it was painted (1900-1906), the composition (oil on canvas), and the size of the original.  The sticker says copyright of The National Gallery so the plaque may have been a souvenir.
Purchase price - $.99

Last up is a brand new in the box bird bath.
This find struck me as funny since the day before I had been saying I needed more bird baths for my birds.
Lately, they've had to share one and this has caused some fights.  My Indian Ringneck Parakeet has claimed the bath for his own and doesn't like for anyone else to use it.  Hopefully, an extra bird bath will alleviate some of the squabbling.
Purchase price - $1.50
Value - $6.99

Loch Ness Monster, Pie plate, plant hanger, and CDs

Today was a fun day at the Goodwill.
The first thing I found is something I intend to give as a gag gift.
It is a little pottery Loch Ness Monster that seems to be a souvenir from the UK.
The box caught my eye as it says "Baby Nessie:  The Little Monster in a Wee Box."
Purchase Price - $.59

Next up is a pie plate that has a recipe for strawberry pie on it.
As a lover of pie, especially strawberry, I was excited to find this plate since I'm always losing my pie recipe for strawberry.
There are no chips or flaws of any kind and is just pretty!
It is made by the Royal China Company in Sebring, OH.  It is most likely from the 60's, probably before 1969.  In 1969, the Jeanette Glass Company purchased Royal China and added their name to the logo.  This pie plate does not have the Jeanette name on it.
Purchase price - $2.00
Value - $10.00+

Plant hanger
I bought this not to hang plants but to hang bird toys for my pet birds.
I'm unable to hang things from the ceiling but this makes it where I can hang the toys from the wall.
Cost - $.99

And lastly, three classical CDs.
The first is an unopened copy of Yo-Yo Ma:  Simply Baroque.  I'm fairly certain that we already have this CD so this one will be resold.
The second is Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue and Piano Concerto in F played by Katia & Marielle Labeque.
The last is music by a composer that I'm not familiar with, Albert W. Ketelbey but thought sounded interesting.
Purchase price (all three) - $9.00

Classical CDs

Verdi Songs - Margaret Price & Geoffrey Parsons
Rachmaninov Piano Concertos 1 & 2 - Leif Ove Andsnes with Antonio Pappano and the Berliner Philharmoniker
As a classical musician, I've found that one of the best places to get classical music CDs is the thrift store.
These came from a Salvation Army where the sale was buy one get one free.
Purchase price (for both) - $1.99
Value -  Verdi - $9.98, Rachmaninov - $9.60
Values are based on http://www.amazon.com/ used CD prices.

Fenton/L.G. Wright rose bowl

This is a dish that I found at a Goodwill a couple weeks ago.
The shape is commonly called a rose bowl.
The glass was made by Fenton for the L.G. Wright Glass Company.
L.G. Wright than had people paint the glass, this one by Marie.
The glass is a blue satin finish that has a layer of matte blue over white.
The dish is probably from the 60's or 70's.
Purchase price - $.99
Value - unknown

Blenko Tangerine/Amberina Water Bottle

I made my husband buy this for me as an early Christmas present several weeks ago from a Goodwill.
This is a water bottle/carafe made by Blenko glass, one of my favorite glass companies.
The color is called tangerine by Blenko but is also called amberina.
It is hand blown and in perfect shape.
This is an example of the type of glass I like to collect although I mainly stick to vases.
Purchase price - $10.00
Value - $50.00
